PANTERA - 1990.08.30 Bogart's Cincinnati OH, USA

Well.....the day has come for me to post my last Pantera show which was also the very first time I got to see Pantera! This show was on the tour they did with Suicidal Tendencies & Exodus at Bogart's in Cincinnati Ohio. At the time I did not know anything about Pantera as they had just recently released the "Cowboys From Hell" album on July24th and was only been out for about 5 weeks. Needless to say when the lights went out and during the first few seconds of "Domination" out of knowhere Phil leaped out of the darkness (from an elevated level...off of the speakers?) through an extreme strobelight to give it that "slow motion" effect and I was floored! I was stunned by the intensity of this Texas band and it wasn't a stretch to say that if they didn't blow S/T & Exodus off of the stage that at least they "held their own" with the citizens of Cincinnati!
Over the years I got to see a total of 16 Pantera shows (I would have prolly have seen more if it wasn't for the fact that some of Pantera's shows was on the same day as a few Metallica shows I went to) and wished I could have seen more. I never got to see Damageplan as they also seemed to be close to home when I already had tickets for another show. The very last time I saw Vinnie & Darrell onstage was when they joined Disturbed onstage to do a cover of "Walk" at the August 2nd stop at the 2003 Ozzfest in Alpine Valley,Wisconsin after getting caught in a speed trap less than a couple of miles from the venue where we had to pay a $160 fine or go to jail! So it was worth it to see "Walk" plus me & my friend Paul also got to hang out with Snake, Away & Piggy on their tour bus and was able to hook them up with a joint I had on me at the time (they was jonesing soo bad for a buzz!) and left one for Jason and made them promise to "not smoke it!" At some later time I will post the Disturbed set if there is interest in it....but for now get one last pull and if you celebrate this holiday season have a "Black Tooth" in Dimebag's memory of the great life he had! It is tragic how he died but he did die with his boots on and a guitar in his hand....celebrate his life and not his death!

Enjoy

Now you didn't think I was going to put up all the good stuff up first now did ya? This is a great recording from the first night of the "Cowboys & Idiots" tour where Pantera co-headlined with Wrathchild America! I don't think I taped Wrathchild America because if memory serves me right I had to work 3rd shift in a Dayton factory and had to leave early to get to work on time from Cincinnati since it was a 1 hour drive. If there is one show you must upload from the shows I have posted then this is it!

PANTERA - 1991.05.26 Bogart's Cincinnati OH, USA

I seemed to not be able to find the original text of this show so I guess that is why this is the last one to be seeded!Just as well as this show is a "Remaster" of the original which was at a much lower volume level and was re-tracked to join together a tracks that was split before they was done.
This is the 2nd show I saw from the "Cowboy And Idiots" tour with Wrathchild America (which was also the last of the co-headling tour) so Pantera does jam with Wrathchild America on their encore which I am also uploading!

So "Getcha Pull!"

PANTERA - 1992.05.01 Hara Arena Dayton OH, USA

Better late than never!

I'm dragging a bit on this one as I haven't been focused on my main objective because of the distractions of trying to keep my torrents from being distributed in mp3 form at other websites but it is a battle that is not worth getting to involved with.....it only makes me bitter and I have thought I have overcame that once I got pleasure from opening up my vaults to the hardcore AC/DC & Pantera collectors who respect my work and are happy to get them regardless of the format! I do think I got through to the guy who originally posted them but there is nothing I can do if he posts flac files and some other jackass makes mp3s out of them later to distribute. I'm over it myself and if they want crap they will have to work hard to get it because I have seen that fellow dimeadozen members truely care about how the shows are distributed outside the forums and that is a good thing for all recordings in general! I know that at some point and time some of those mp3 collectors will want to get flac in the future.....and the only thing I would have to say is that if anybody wants to upgrade any show of mine that was converted to mp3 format please give them that show only. I had to wait a long time to join this forum and I can remember how hard it was for me to get a collection going when I first started taping back in 1985! So I can't really fault somebody who is just starting out and don't have a general knowledge of "how things works" in the tape trading circles....and I would not want my shows to be hoarded & bartered like the den of snakes that are controlling the flow of Led Zeppelin recordings!
That being said........I know this is the "12th" day but I still have a few more shows to offer before Christmas! I'm not going to let a few bad apples spoil it for all my fellow Dimebag fanatics! This show was one of the first I made on my then new Sony D-3 DATman and it turned out pretty nice! I went back to using the Realistic mic as I didn't care about the overall sound of the Sony Mic that was optional (that will be on my next show) so I went back and has been my microphone of choice for the next decade! There was a shutdown of the deck between the end of "This Love" that I did not find out about until late into the song "Walk" so I'm unsure how much is missing but since Pantera was opening for Skid Row I'm assuming it wasn't anymore that what was between the 2 songs. I will upload the Skid Row at a later date when I get my tapes organized!

Hey everybody!
This time I tought I would offer up something from Detroit for all the Motor City Madmen! This was recorded in some big ass building that they have livestock exibitions in so there is a bit of an echo to it but an extremely strong setlist and the massive sound of Dimebag & Vinnie fills out the building rather nicely!
Whenever possible I will also try to offer the other bands on the stage for that night so look for Type O Negative in the next torrent I make!

Yep......there is a 14th Day of Pantera....because 13 is not enough! Seriously.......I have 2 more Pantera Masters left in my vault but one of them is a flawed master that was made on my Sony D-3 DATman before it crapped out on me a month later in NYC and I don't want to release it in it's present condition...when I have way too much time on my hands I may attempt to fix it. But there will be 1 more Pantera show I'll try to post later tonight.

This show was the 3rd stop on "The Great Southern Trendkill" 1996 tour and it was hotter than Hell in The Gardens that night.....I don't even think they had any air conditioning on that night so the set was shortened a bit but they sound great and tight considering it was early into the tour!

Today I thought I would offer up this show from "The Great Southern Trendkill" tour from one of Pantera's favorite stops....Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio. At this particular show was a 4 band night but I only taped 2 bands....Pantera and White Zombie. I did not tape Eyehategod or The Deftones and the only reason I can think of why I didn't as I usually tape everything is that both of these bands was mastered on 90 minute DAT tapes and they was not only hard to find locally they was also expensive.....just like everything was before I got on the internet! But enough of me yapping.....let's get the shows uploaded!

And in a side note....I didn't think I would have to state the obivous but I have been told that some of the Pantera shows I posted are now being distributed as mp3s........I don't give a fuck how you do your own personal copy but PLEASE don't change the format it you torrent it elsewhere...and no lossy form if you trade discs also. Don't re-invent the steel!

PANTERA + OzzFEST JAM & RIOT 1997.06.17 Polaris Amphitheater Columbus OH, USA

*Original upload had sector boundry errors that have been corrected*

One of the most popular torrents on this site was the Milwaukee 1980 Black Sabbath Riot show that was taped by Analog....so I'm sure this will bring just as much interest! Here is some comments that was posted at Rob Dryer's Black Sabbath Live Project website....
Neither Black Sabbath or the Ozzy Osbourne band appeared at this show, but did return on July 1st for a makeup date. Ozzfest attendees didn’t learn of Ozzy’s cancellation until about 9 hours after the gates first opened.

"Members of several Ozzfest bands (Pantera, Type O Negative, Fear Factory and Marilyn Manson) assembled an ad-hoc Ozzy tribute band to fill in for the missing headliners. They performed a short set of Ozzy covers including "I Don't Know", "Mr. Crowley", "Suicide Solution", "Crazy Train" [Marilyn Manson-vocals], and "Bark At The Moon". Their show lasted just over 35 minutes and did little to soothe the disappointed crowd. Many were still waiting for Ozzy to come out and do his thing, but Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo had to break the bad news that the really was over.

From MTV News: The capacity crowd of 20,000 was less than thrilled with the news, and about 1,000 of them took their anger out on the venue. Fans smashed box office windows, ripped down panels from a wooden fence, and lit small fires around the amphitheater ground. According to the "Columbus Dispatch," the crowd also seriously damaged at least one car, and destroyed trees and fences on neighboring property. This riot resulted in the arrest of 23 attendees.

"When one of the band members announced that Ozzy wasn't here, the guys ran to the fence and started tearing it down," one fan told a local news crew of the situation. “All of a sudden bonfires broke out on the lawn and people were setting seats on fire, setting the wall on fire, and I work here... not tonight. But I have to clean up all of this stuff up tomorrow."

"They were just trashing the place 'cause everybody's angry," another fan said. "We need our money back because we didn't get our concert."

Five fans were treated for minor injuries, one was charged by police with disorderly conduct, and the venue hopes to announce refund information in a few days. Ozzy's publicist would only say that Ozzy will be back with Ozzfest for Thursday night's show at Chicago's World Amphitheater."

The Pantera set was as usual was tight.....during "This Love" there was some stripper who was giving her best dance moves on stage for Phil and had "This Love" painted on her ass cheeks that she proudly flashed for all to see!

After a bit of a delay between Marylyn Manson's set and Ozzy's solo set (there was many partons who was getting a serious search by Ohio State Troopers for a reported "bomb threat" that was made if MM went onstage) Phil comes out and wants to jam with Ozzy's band....which seemed to be pretty cool at first. But after the Joey Holme's guitar solo the crowd started getting restless. Phil being the trooper that he was tried his best to put a postive spin on the cancellation but after almost 10 hours of Metal, beer & summer heat everything came to a head! The riot itself runs longer than will fit on a standard 80 cdr so where there was a break in the recording from where I was getting ready to pack up my gear I continued on a 3rd disc...but you can choose to tack it on at the end of the Pantera cd (or delete) if you choose.

Enjoy!

PANTERA - 1998.01.20 Hara Arena Dayton OH, USA

Hey fellow metalheads!
What I am attempting to do is over the period of the next 12 days is to post Pantera shows that I have personally taped and are not in general circulation starting on this day, Dec 8th....the day that Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott was murdered onstage 2 years ago by Nathan Gale at The Al Rosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. This is to celebrate the music that he made while on this earth, not to place blame with who was at fault as Nathan Gale was on a mission and nothing was going to stop him because he was a very troubled individual and with his military training the 8 ft wooden fence he breeched was not an issue of security. I have seen many shows at The Al Rosa Villa and Rick Cautela was a victim of a demented soul who singlehandedly destroyed a Columbus institution that nurtured the Metal scene (national & local) for over 30 years. Along with Dimebag Nathan Gale also killed other people... Damageplan's security crew member Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson, Al Rosa employee Erin Halk and a member of the audience Nathan Bray before Nathan Gale was killed by Columbus Police Officer James Niggemeyer.

Please...if you have any negetive feelings about The Al Rosa Villa then please keep them to yourself as I will not upload any future Pantera torrents it it gets ugly. I would also suggest that you keep you opinions of Phil Anselmo private too. None of it will bring Dimebag back.

This particular show was taped at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio....a place that I have seen them at many times over the years! This tape is not perfect......the master tape has a high error rate on the playback and I don't have the know-how or equipment to correct it. But this show is still very listenable with some distortion here and there so if somebody has the skills to fix it let me know but for now on this day I will offer this up for your enjoyment!

I thought I would kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak....since I have been uploading shows Pantera played along with the opening act I decided it was also time to throw out my Black Sabbath "Reunion Tour" shows for all the Sabbath fans! As far as I know they are not in general circulation either as I stopped trading with Sabbath collectors back in 1994 and I know that they are also hungry for new audio! And unlike that dipshit that converted my Pantera shows to mp3 the Sabbath collectors won't stand for it and are also very anal about the lineage of a show and will maintain the integrity of the original files! You youngsters could learn something from the old school metal bootleg collectors!

This is the 2nd night in The Palace of Auburn Hills and this evening both the Pantera & Black Sabbath tapes have a much better overall sound as they seem to have a better soundman that night as I did nothing different recording this show. PANTERA - 2000.07.18 Polaris Amphitheater, Columbus, OH, USA

Sorry about being late posting this....I had to do some tuning up on my car & I fell asleep on the couch afterwars!

This show should have not been taped....by me! But it was...and I owe it to one of my "Friends of the road" that I have met over the years that I have lost contact with. And that person would be Rick Cowell.
People from Detroit would know him as the dj "Rick Elliot" who was on the air with Z-Rock and would also work for Ted Nugent when the radio station changed format to "The Bear". The last few years (until recently) he was working as "Scoop" at WBZX 99.7 "The Blitz" in Columbus and may have been at The Al Rosa Villa the night Dimebag was murdered by Nathan Gale. Rick has always been very helpful with me whenever he could at times letting me stay with him at his crib when I made a long out of town trip. I just found out in the last few months that he does not work for The Blitz anymore.
At this particular Ozzfest I had really no interest in paying big $$ just to see Pantera which was the only band outside of Ozzy & QOTSA that I wanted to see so I was trying to "mooch" some lawn tickets off of Rick if the station had any left over. However....things wasn't working out for Rick and he could not make it to the show that day so he gave me his pavillion seats in the lower bowl but I had to do it at the very last minute and barely got in in enough time to tape Pantera! Since I moved back to Tennessee in 2001 my trips to Columbus has been limited and Rick has been busy with his work, his daughter and spending weekends in the "Dogpound!"

So this show is a gift from my friend "Scoop"......any Tool or Clutch collectors out there if you know Rick forward this show & info to him and see if you can have him to contact me.

Thanks

Jerry

PANTERA - 2001.06.30 Cobo Arena, Detroit, MI, USA

In loving memory of Paul K Manzo II 1/23/1971 - 7/23/2007 R.I.P.

*Original upload had sector boundry errors that have been corrected*

Yeah....I know I'm a day late posting this.....it just means I will post 2 Pantera shows today!

This would be the last time I would see Pantera as a band. At the time I had relocated to Tennessee after the factory I worked in closed it's doors and gave me a hefty "severance" check for the 10 years I had put into the place. When I found out about this gig I had to make the trip up to Detroit....I mean it was Slayer, Pantera & Static-X on the same stage! It was also the same day that a close friend of mine, Paul Manzo had some problems with his teeth hurting which his dentist realized it was something else...the early signs of Lukemia which he has managed to keep in check. I wished that there wasn't an echo to the recording but all tapes from Cobo can't sound as good as "Live Bullet" or "KISS Alive" but it is still a great performance that also happens to be Phil Anselmo's birthday! I may post the Slayer & Static-X at a later time but for now here is some more Dimebag for you musicial pleasure!

Enjoy!
